The Arts and Culture Development Office (ACDO) was set up by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) to promote cultural philanthropy and to champion the arts and culture as a worthy cause in Singapore. It contributes to a larger effort to build a gracious community in which citizens take greater ownership of the arts and culture.
ACDO plays a role in the development of a gracious society by:
- Encouraging the spirit of giving to the arts and culture in Singapore
- Creating a network of arts and culture champions from the public, private and people sectors
- Fostering a robust arts and cultural sector with strong professional skills
One of ACDO’s key initiatives is give2arts.sg. This is a portal which makes it easy for everyone to get involved in arts and culture. It facilitates direct link-ups between donors or volunteers with arts and cultural organisations. It also allows non-profit arts and cultural organisations [which are registered as charities or Institution of a Public Character (IPC)] to provide information about their organisation and programmes to the public.
